really? hm..i thought that only drives that supported the HD-Burn technology could read them.

According to Optowrite, they will write them, but most standard pc dvd-roms will read them....

If I could actually burn an HD-DISK, will let you guys know.... however, still trying.... attempt #5...

"A written disc by "HD-BURN" technology is compatible with a DVD player, and allows the player to read the disc with some modification of firmware. SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. will disclose the technology used to read the media written with "HD-BURN" technology by a DVD player, and will propose to other DVD drive manufacturers that they adopt this technology as an industry standard. "

I don't think they can read them yet. Well, the quote talks about DVD players...I couldn't find anything for PC DVD-ROM drives.

FYI, I just bought this drive for $109 + free shipping + free hat at Newegg. Can't beat that deal for a High Density CD backup device. And as a bonus it burns DVD's somewhat! ;)
