Hi,
My old computer was a P3-450 Slot1 with a Intel zx chipset based mobo. My cpu got fried as my fan had stopprd working. Rest of the machine is fine and I used it mainly for running word processing software and data entry.

Plz tell me what are the different processors that i can use on it.

A P3-600 slot1 is available on ebay. Will it work on my zx mobo and approx how much shud it cost.

Thanx,

Ed.

You can get an adapter that will allow you to use newer socketed CPU's in your CPU slot.

Google for slocket. I am not sure how fast a CPU you can get in your board, but I believe you can do a lot better than what you had.

those suckers tend to be quite expensive though.. you might wanna check on ebay for used P3s or look at some online vendors if they still carry some.

do a wtb on the fs/ft forum here on anands , i have seen a few slocket adapters very cheap here

while your at it look for a processor to go with it

hugs

Jen

Thx guys.
Well its a good idea to use a slocket and a faster cpu but im worried about the voltage becos my older p3 ran at 2.05 V (katamai). The faster p3 cpu's run on 1.65 V.
Will it make any difference?
