Just got a new PC, trying to put my Leadtek tv card in, only there's no aux audio input on the motherboard, and no audio input jack on the back of the card. My old install had an input on the soundblaster card, and now I'm using the mainboard sound. Is there a way to wire the 3 wire audio cable to a miniplug? i could go out the back and into the audio hookup that way. There ia an 8 wire AC97 wire header inside the case, looks like from the case wiring harness. Is there a way to hook the old 3 wire into that?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Helps iif we knew what PC you got. I can't think of many OEMs that the motherboard audio doesn't offer any audio input. If the board has 5.1 surround support then on of the jacks either acts as the aux input or can be configured to do so.

Well the new system board is an EVGA X58 and dang if I can find an audio input spot.
the case (922 HAF) is wired for front panel audio jacks (mic&Headphones), and theres a pigtail in the case marked as AC97 but the pigtail has like 8 wires, and is also a female end, as is the 4 part female end of the old audio cable. I have a VCR hooked up and and it worked bvery well on my old system. I'm saving old video camera tapes with the setup, and I have to finish quite a few. Anyone got a solution for me? Thanks!

What model is the motherboard?

If you look at the back of the board it should look somthing like this.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageG...%20Motherboard

Now the most basic audio setup will have the pink for your Mic, the green for a set of 2.0 or 2.1 speakers and the black is the audio input or aux. Using the audio software that came with the board you would be able to go in a configure the use of those 6 jacks to give you 7.1 suround sound and that aux input ends up being used as an output so you could have a full 7.1 audio system.

With most tuner cards you need a male to mail cable to connect from the card to the sound as you have. So the audio out of the card goes to the black jack on the motherboard.

I need to go from the Leadtek winfast TV2000XP expert card (which has the old 4 part 3 wire cd/dvd cable hookup for line out) to a "line In" on the motherboard -or- to the back of the sound ports on the motherboard (EVGA X58)... Somehow i need to convert this old 4 port three wire cd/dvd audio cable to either a 1/8' male plug, or somehow hook into the AC97 header inside the case, there is no 4 part 3 wire hookup for "audio in" on the motherboard itself...

*sigh* Hope someone has a solution.... Thanks!

I just heaved that card.
My girl has an Asus P5LD2-VM with a Pent 4, 3.4. She was recording TV on my box so to get her out of my PC I gave her a new copy of Win 7 hand hooked up this leadtek card I had stored away, no sound. I used it with the Asus board before connected to the CD audio input. (old technology) I gave her the Happauge 150 from my box so my dilemma was solved but that's no help for you. sorry. I'm too lazy to play with it but it can be done.

During my research on that card I saw what your thinking about though, they had a mini-jack shown in the PDF manual that was able to plug into the mic- jack. do you have that cable? You can get the stereo mini jack at radio shack and wire your cable to it.
Also if you were inclined to do so you could connect to your line in on the motherboard header if you don't use the front panel microphone. Your user manual for the mobo will give you the pinouts so you could splice into that. The cable on my card had a black wire that was heavier guage than the red or white that would be ground and the other two right and left.
