hm. i let them come in and run the cable and let the modem boot up. from there i take over and let them take notes 😉 nobody touches my computer 😉

at one point i had a 40 year old cable guy sitting there talking about how he wanted to get into linux. classic 😛
If I get cable, that's the way it's going to be. They will do their part of the work, but nobody loads any spyware or totally unnecessary bloatware on my computers. 🙂

Yeah the real weird thing is that it was working fine about a month ago - was getting great speeds of around 120K upstream and all of a sudden it just capped off. Optonoline BTW is different from RoadRunner - its for people who live in Long Island and Connecticut. I know other people on their network who are still doing alright. I was just interested to see if anyone on this particular network has experienced the same thing or are they just picking on me?

you even read my post? i explained it, follow the link to and click on the capping discussion thread. only those who abuse bandwidth get capped. i am still running full speed:

2003-01-20 13:47:04 EST: 8813 / 945
Your download speed : 8813433 bps, or 8813 kbps.
A 1075.8 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 945775 bps, or 945 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
