I bought a new microsoft intellimouse and I love it - BUT - whenever I am playing some games like Unreal Tournament and CounterStrike sometimes I get what I call the Optimouse Death Spin. It happens when you move the mouse too fast and it freaks out and sends you into an uncontrolable spin. By the time you figure out which way is up or down someone comes up and frags you or you fall off a cliff. This is SOOOOOOOO ANNNOYYYING :|. Has anyone figured out how to fix this???

Mouse Specs:
Microsoft Intellimouse (the one with an extra button on either side)
Mouse connected to PC via USB
I have no mouse pad I my surface is a wooden desk

No way to fix, Im a die hard Quaker and I have to switch mice if I wanna play Q2. There is just no way to reliably move in a FPS with an optical mouse.

Just leave one plugged in to the PS/2 port and one to the USB port and switch accordingly for your required use at the time.

I used to have the same problem....I fixed it by buying a Razor Boomslang and smashing that POS optical.

I use the Logitech Mouseman optical and never had any spin outs. This is the "second generation" optical sensor, so maybe thats it, but it works great.
