Wanted to give some of the optimized SETI apps a try. Maybe someone using them can tell me what I'm missing.

I copy the new files into my C:\BOINC_data\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu directory. Tried this with BOINC stopped, running, and tried restarting the PC but the new apps don't load.

The application listed still reads SETI@home Enhanced 6.03 and the message:
6/17/2009 4:30:44 PM SETI@home Starting task 12mr09ac.29680.7434.4.8.120_1 using setiathome_enhanced version 603

Expecting to see something with AK_v8_win_SSSE3x or otherwise stating I'm using a custom app. The zip file had the app_info.xml... that this won't allow me to paste in... :| but it calls for "AK_v8_win_SSSE3x.exe" for every type.

There wasn't an existing app_info.xml to overwrite so I'm wondering if the newest version doesn't use the same file setup or what's going on.

I'm using the files from http://calbe.dw70.de/win32.html
Any suggestions?

when you first start up seti.... go to the messages tab.
about 14 lines down, you'll see:
SETI@home date/time Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform

you want to see what's listed in bold... if you see that.. then you are ok

If you have the optimized app installed it will still show the message you posted. The only message you will see in boinc that will tell you if you are using an optimized app is the "SETI@home date/time Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform". To verify that you are actually using the optimized app you can also open up task manager and look at your processes, the optimized app will show up as AK_v8_win_SSSE3x.exe.

It is indeed working. Looking in Windows task manager I can see the custom apps doing the work. It looks to have given me a pretty massive speed bump. A 2ghz C2D was taking about 150 minutes to complete and now it's down to about 100 minutes.
