Optimal Placement of fans in case for cooling

okay, sorry if this is a duplicate post, but I've searched around in this forum for a few hours and havnt found exactly what Im looking for... this is my current set up...

Tbird 850 @ 1.05
KT7A + raid mobo
2-45GB 7200 75GXP IBM
ATI Radeon 32MB DDR @ 200/200 with extra large HSF on chip, and small hs on RAM
Global WIN FOP32-1

my case has two exhaust fans, one is on the power supply and other is right below it... I have one intake in the front, but Im not sure how much air it is getting through there because of the limited areas for it to come in... I have USB/speaker/headphone jacks up there (its a neato case), but that limits intake..

do you think this will be okay for my system.. if you have any suggestions/critiques PLEASE tell me

Well, im sure that would be ok, but im sure it could be alot better. On my case, I have a 80mm exhaust fan beside the cpu, and a 120mm on the top of the case. I also have intake fans, one in the front bottom, and 2 on the side panel. My case temp is about 25c, not sure what ambient is, but couldnt be too far below that.

if you have metal snips or someone with a dremel or something, you might be able to ask them to borrow them (or ask them to do it for you) and cut out the hole on the intake fan for more air to come through

This really depends on the case. I am not familiar w/your case so I couldnt say. However, one in the front, one in the back, and one on the side (blowing on the CPU) tends to be a good setup.

this is a picture of my case and the specs.... I cant cut a hole in the front of the case because of the solid design. If I had realized building a case was funner, I would have bought an ugly beige and made my own (too late so sorry)... anyway, thanks for the advice, but if you think of anything else after viewing this case, please let me know...

if you don't want to cut up the exterior of the case, then there is only so much you can do, as you are limited to the fan vents installed on the case. you may want to cut open the fan holes and install less air restricting grills in their place. if you are willing to cut up the case a little, but not in the front as you mentioned, then a fan opposite the mb blowing air on the cpu and a blowhole exhausting hot air from the top of the case would be my suggestions.

those were my ideas, but how much of a decrease in temp will that give me? If I have an intake in the bottm, and two outtakes in the top, and some holes along the bottom of the case, will there be that much of a diff? Would it help to put an intake in one of the 5 1/4 slots? Also, if I have a fan opposite the mobo, that will mean it is on the sliding case door... how do I make it so I can slide it open without ripping off the fan or the plug... just make a long cord?

If you want air blowing right at the cpu w/o attaching more fans, you could get a 2coolpc. I have one and it works well. It doesn't bring more air into the case, but it does direct it where it is needed.
