optical mouse question

ok i just ordered this optical mouse and sometimes it just jerks around like ill be moving the mouse and it moves somewhere else where i didnt move it to. Is that normal?

No, it is not.

First thing to try is to use it on something that has a lot of "texture" or color/brightness differences. See if that helps at all.
But, for example, and AOPEN optical mouse I just received from time to time does little circular jerks, that are definitely not normal. I'll probably have to return it.

i agree, that definetly sounds like a problem w/ the surface that you're trying to use it on. i know the whole point of having an optical mouse is that you can use it on ANYTHING (except glass or mirrors), but it's always better to use a mousepad. the good thing is that you don't need an expensive one, just a regular freebie or $2 pad.
