Man there are so many drives to choose from I would really appreceate some help!

I just sold my LG-4163B, great drive never game me any issues except for some 16x media that could only burn @ 4x's...

I am considering the new GSA-H10A how is this drive for compatialbity and burn quallity and speed?

What about the Benq 1650 or Nec 3550?

Basically I want a drive that is very compatible, fast at burning quality burns and one that has the highest Sheep Rating...

I couldn't find a sheep rating for the 1650 or the H10A...

Can anyone shed some light here for me please?...
😕

I would definately recommend you get another LG. I have two of them (one internal, one external) at work, and they are both great at burning and regular reading for months. At home, I had a Lite-On SHW-1635S which died on me (started SCRATCHING my disks!!!); got this one RMA'd and just got a SHW-SP160PS (something like that :confused😉. Only just installed the 160, have tried two disks in it so far, and no problems YET (not saying much since it's only been used two days). However, checking newegg reviews, this drive has A LOT of problems, so I personally won't be buying Lite-On again🙁. Also, I had a Hitachi DVD work for almost 6 years no problem, but I just found out that they're just rebranded LGs.

Thanks for the input...I am really swinging toward the LG....

I was just curious if anyone knew the sheep rating...?

I heard that there was a new 3 sheep writer out but not sure which company..

Well I have purchased the LG-GSA-H10A...is runs great and I was very happy that it picked up my 16X Benq DVD-Rs & let me burn them at 16x..

In my GSA-4163B it only saw them as 4x and I had to make some firmware modifications to get it to burn at 16x.

Also the 48x CD vs the previous 40x is nice 🙂

You shoulda gone with the NEC ND3550A or the newer ND4570A (both available at Newegg). There's excellent modified firmware for NEC drives that unlock even more features and add compatibility for more media. The firmware is by Liggy&Dee over at the CDFreaks forums.
