Optical Audio/HDMI question

Hey guys, recently i upgraded some of my equipment. I now have a Sharp Aquos TV, PS3 and Yamaha 5.1 Receiver. Last night i hooked up the receiver and put the Optical audio straight from the PS3 to the receiver and it sounds great. My TV has Optical out, which i was thinking of just running it from there and leaving it on one channel on the receiver for all TV/PS3 sound. My TV says it supports Dolby Digital and my question is, will the PS3 carry Dolby Digital signal through HDMI and i can output it to my receiver through the TV?

When they say they support DD that is for digital broadcasts...they will output DD out the optical connection. I doubt it would accept then output the digital signal...but its possible. I would try to find a thread of owners on AVS that can tell you more specifically.

TVs generally don't bridge audio from HDMI to the optical out due to HDCP protection. They usually only do it through the analog audio inputs and for OTA (ATSC) connection.
