hi, Iam no guru on cpu and stuff,but I need a new one and I want an opteron :) so, all of them are dual core, no?

thanks (i have 300 us)

Opteron!=dual core

You only have 300$? Dual core Opteron is too expensive.
Only Opteron165 is below 300$, but I doubt whether you have the chance to get it.

huh..what about the single core opteron..ie 144, 146, 148 etc

Betwon you need to get your facts straight before replying to a thread like this

His P4@4G( the performance of P4@4G is very close to K8@2.7G), There is no sense to change another single core CPU.

thanks for the replys guys, so my best shoot its to save more money and buy a really good dualcore opteron I guess

Not necessarily...I have no experience with the P4s...you may not get the improvement expected

id stick with what you have and wait for AM2. update ur GPU instead. end of january some new models are expected to show up, a refresh of the g70/r520 i think. Mid 2006 is (as far as rumors keep saying) when AM2 and G80 will be ready.
