M-80s? Dumb? I used to do stuff that would have me charged with WMD's in todays times. Like weather ballons carrying about 5 lbs of TNT and metals for effect. Like lighting ponds on fire with 20 gallons of gas.

That's a great chip to OC inside a shuttle.. Just leave everything "optimized defaults" Change HTT to 240, LDT 4, and mem to 166 or 333 depending on bios. Leaves memeory running @ 200Mhz and puts chip where it should be.
You're absolutley right! I have both, a 4800+ and a 170 and there's not an bit of diff between them on my setup....... Both do 2.7 @ 1.40 without a stretch.

Hey guys,

I decided to get the Opty 170 as said above however I have 1 question about overclocking.
and I was just wondering what kind of overclocking i would be able to get at stock vcore. and is it smart to overclock a shuttle? these things are pretty tiny.

The problem with optys is that most of them do not oc very well. There are 3 revisions. 1. OC's really well but is very rare 2. Sh!ttiest ocer ever 3. In between. Its total luck whether yours wil oc and its very likely that you will get a 2, maybe a 3, but almost impossible to get a 1. They are extremely rare and haven't been seen that much. Not a good buy in my opinion simply because of the gamble with the revisions. A few rares ones oc very well, many more oc ok, and the majority hardly oc at all. Sorry.

New troll on ther block. Third thread I have read in one page that he is spewing crap like this,

To the OP: After my second 3800 did so bad OC'ing (2400 so far may have to go lower) definitely try the new Opteron 939 dual-cores.

My 4200 which is 2.2Ghz stock will not run 2.4 on default volts. every 1.8Ghz Opteron I've seen will including mine. ( i should'nt have said that because it will hurt my resale lol) deleted in a few..

CCBWE 0534SPMW
, so far 675mhz overclock in first try, it should go higher, CCBWE 0534SPMW, I don't think its bad at all for a 305$ cpu to hit that speed at stock volts
