I have also read/heard that there is very little if any performance gain when Gaming on a dual core.
I have 2 gigs RAM running dual channel and as most have reported this makes a BIG difference when loading new maps on BF2.
The RAIDed Raptors might help some also, but 95% of the time I am the first one on my team to hit the ground when new maps load.
Lately I have noticed more players starting to spawn when I do.
Also I just bought a g15 and can see what my CPU and Memory loads are when playing/loading maps on BF2. There may be more accurate apps for monotoring system resources, but I'm seeing CPU usage spike to 100% a few times during map loads.
Long story longer.. I want some of that 'early spawning' edge back when loading new maps on bF2 and I'm thinking that having one core to run my OS+ whatever needed background apps and one core to run BF2 would have to be of some benefit if only when loading/unloading maps.
If anyone has tested BF2 map load times with dual VS single core I would like to know if there was any decrease in load times. This is the main reason I want dual cores. Besides I have had this Winnie for a year and while she's been good to me,I kind of want to try something new, like twins
I think I need another MB (higher HTT) and more vcore
and faster RAM to really get the most from a new CPU though..
Edit- Hey thanks for the info Puffnstuff  Looks like Monarch is the place to go for the best stepping?
I might need to go 170 for the multiplier as I'm running 9.5 right now @278 HTT and don't know If I can get much higher on this MB.
Live and learn I guess. I should have got the DFI or A8N32 as it's all about the HTT these days..
