What are you babbling about?

You must have a different opty than I have. Mine is 1.35 at stock.

It depends on the motherboard/BIOS revision, I believe. Some motherboards default the VCore to different voltages. I know my EPoX EP-9NPA+Ultra with the latest BIOS revision defaulted my old Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice) E3 and my current Opteron 144 to 1.45V. I have to set the VCore to -.05V to get it back to the AMD-specified VCore range (1.35V/1.4V; see link).

My Opteron 144 is at 2.7GHz (9 x 300MHz). Load temps are 40C on the CPU and 35C on the chipset. I use a Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu HSF at "normal" fan speed. On "silent" mode, it goes up to ~45C. My AMD stock CPU HSF had the CPU at ~46C load. I have a Cooler Master Praetorian with 4 fans on low (I use a Vantec Nexus NXP-305 fan/light controller). See my Anandtech System Rigs Profile for more information on my setup.

My Athlon 64 3000+ (Venice) E3 ran at 2.5GHz (9 x 300MHz, 1.55V) at ~47C with the stock AMD CPU HSF. Seems these Opterons -- well, at least mine and the OP's -- don't run as cool as one would think. Regardless, I am thrilled about my OC, so it's of little consequence to me.

Dual core optys have different voltages than do single core.

The dual core optys also use a different HSF.
