I built this a month ago, and just now got all the bugs worked out. 10k 3dmark03, and 196k ATTO disk read /170k disk write are the two major benchmarks. PM me for more.

Inside Opteron
External SCSI array 100 gig
Upper case X800pro closeup
F@H servers
System overview
Plenty of room for 10 more HD's ! Maybe move the SCSI drives in the case ?
Sideways Outside pic !

Don't know if you can see, but I had to do a serious case mod to get it to run OK temp wise. I changed out the 120x25mm fan for a 120x38mm Panaflo, and reversed the flow. Then to help out, I added one at the top to help exhaust the hot air ! Without these two, this baby cooks at over 70C ! With them, I get about 52-55c I think (I don't trust the 62c sensor on one vs the 52c sensor on the other with the same hsf and I have reseated the hot one 3 times !!!)

Thank you, Cromagnon Man. :D

j/k

I saw the duct tape air paasageway sealant thingee we chatted about earlier. Good thinking on your part. However, you would THINK that for the bucks you paid for that case, Lian LI would've done a better job at figuring the airflow management, you know? :(

But damn, Mark; DROOOOOOOOOOOOOL over that rig!!!!! High-End to the Max, man!!

Yes, but notice you WILL have cooling issues, as this is the only thing I am disappointed about with this case. I will have to replace more fans before I put my 5 SCSI drives in ther, and I need to make a custom 6 into one molex connector first. You will need an 11 into one ! and more fans !

I'd be worried about drawing that much power on one rail.

Yup ! Thats why even with the Antec true 550EPS, I still have the 5 drives on an external case PSU from a 486 (case gutted except PSU) I am going to try it soon, stay tuned (next month or so) But, 15watts x5 is only 75 watts, so it will probably work)

yeah i got plenty of fans.. i just dont have slots.. Im using a generic tower with 6 3.5 bays.. half my drives are not being used right now.. :( I dont care about noise, just need a place to put the drives in..

was gonna go for external scsi enclosure but it cost the same plus this is on wheels :)

Is your raid cntrl dual channel ? you'd be able to split your 6-8 drives on both channels.

Maybe you can cut an extra 120mm side blowhole for your hard drives to all fit.
Or maybe you could reverse the front 120mm fan & add addl. intake fans under the hd. section.

Also maybe you can mod your case to take an addl ps. above your current power supply.

When you do install all your hd's you may want to enable stager delay startup on your hd's .
It would help by not putting a large drain at startup on your ps.

nice pics.... :)

How does Doom3 run on your sys ?? does having dual cpu's perform better then similiar A64 systems ??

Regards,
Jose

It's a sleeper comp system. When strangers come into his house, they dont realize the power within (with the case door closed)....And then later in the evening, the 2 opteron worms come out and eat them alive.

I like that Lian-Li case. That is a lot of power to say the least. I bet you need all this mathematical power for your nuclear bomb project. :D

Yeah I have a bunch of lian li removable drives and I was going to get a Codegen s201 server case but i read a review off a user here that it was sharp as hell and wasn't as well made.. for around same price, i think i rather have this puppy.. and it looks so much nicer.
