Opteron identification

I am wanting a genuine opteron dual core proc and is there a way to insure that you are getting the real deal? where can i get the best stepping? thanks for the help

Socket 939 and AM2 opterons are basically just X2's with more cache. That is really the only difference. If you want a "real" opteron, get a socket 940 or socket F opteron that takes ECC RAM.
