i have gotten my 165 from this deal so thank you op!

It is a CCBWE 0530TPMW. So far its at 2.8 at 1.475v. I was not able to get 2.9 stable at 1.55 (MY upper vcore limit, not my mobos 🙂). So I backed it down to 2.8 and so far testing seems good. memory also running happily at 280fsb 2.5-4-4-7.

I shall miss my 3ghz single core opty!

are you guys getting these clocks withy the stock cooler? is it one of those 4 heatpipe ones that is in another hot deal thread?

and wtf? i was gonna get the 170 for the 10x multi and it is $330, not 180's

I am actually on water. But yes the stock cooler is the 4-heatpipe model with an 80mm fan! It looks very nice, I will be pairing it with my old 144 later today actually.

yeah the 170 opty was 189, but I think that now that mwave is out, the best place to get the 165 is newegg. Newegg has them for 159 with free 3-day shipping. nevermind, they are out too. Looks like that leaves monarch at 146.99 before shipping. These are oem though, so no hsf with them.

Some people want to upgrade their socket 939 system. People with low end single core chips, people with a lot of DDR RAM, people wanting good and overclockable AGP motherboards... whatever the reason, if you are in the need for a dual core socket 939 CPU then these are good deals. Just compare them with the equivalent A64. If the price is less or around the same, then get the Opteron. If the equivalent A64 is less, then unless you want to massively overclock, consider the A64.

BTW, anyone who upgrades their single core chip, I would like to buy your old CPU from you. Please PM me.

Who would buy AMD at these newly adjusted prices? Heck I wasn't even biting on the low priced ones.....

AMD, please get the message...YOU ARE LOW END NOW. PLEASE ADJUST YOUR PRICES ACCORDINGLY........

Single core 152 $415? Up from $162......what a joke.......a $180 E6300 OC will destroy your top CPU....heehee.....😉

Chill out. AMD has served the pc building community well and we all know this is a cyclical business. Intel right now has the king of the hill, but that will change many more times. I built AMD because they were more affordable, then they became the better performer. AMD is far from low end.

I ordered a Opty 146 for $90 after procegrabber rebate. This was a few hours before they raised all their prices at mwave. Oh well, I will hopefully get 3.0 on this chip for my backup machine. I still love my Opty 165!!!!

I was amazed at the price increases this day. On a whim I loaded my shopping cart from yesterday, I was bit hesitant about pulling the trigger, and low, and behold there was my opty 175 still in my cart for 225.57

So I went and bought it. It should be a modest bump up from my s754 A64 3000+ Now to see what kind of overclock i can get on it.

Well this thread certainly helped me out. Grabbed an Opteron 165 off of newegg for $159 shipped before they sold out, got it today. Stepping: CCBBE 0610. Thanks! 🙂

Nobody buys these to run them stock (especially a 165 @ 1.8 GHz). Therefore, warranties are out the window anyway with either OEM or retail (unless you're a cheater and send AMD back a burned out cpu)

Now if they would just get some cheap prices for the dual core socket 940 2xx CPUs. I wouldn't mind buying two to replace my 246s.

Ditto! My C0 246s are aching to be replaced with something faster and cooler...

IMHO, mwave is awful in terms of keeping their stock indicator accurate. They charge when you order, and in my case gave me an OOS notice two days later. Then I had to contact them multiple times a day to get my card credited, and it STILL took two days. So they either don't keep good track of stock or filled later orders before mine. I never got an explanation, despite having been a customer for as long as I can remember.
