After a wee bit of software trouble we got 2.7GHz (vCore +.05v) on the stock HSF. Just being conservative for initial burn in. Today's my birthday and my present was getting to watch my GF put her(this) machine together. The alcohol has gotten to me a bit and I'll probably wait before pushing the chip further until my motor skills are back to an acceptable responsive level. But 2.7GHz from day zero is good enough to make me happy.
Yes, XP64 will run perfectly fine on an Opteron. You'll need to find a 64bit stress-test if you're overclocking (unless you're only going for a mild overclock) since using 32bit prime is not the best way to test for 64bit stability. Also, it's almost a given that the CPU will clock lower running in 64bit mode.
