its a boy!

0550UPMW

Woohoo! I'm so happy I got such a great CPU. Hope to do 3.0+ Ghz soon.

Will let you know how it goes :)

Give props ;-)

(thanks Monarch...even though it took a week for 1 day shipping -_-')

dont think youll hit 3.0 maybe if tour lucky 2.8. If you wanted 3 ghz shouldve bought a single core opteron.

If any dual core Opteron stepping is going to do 3.0, his could.

Good luck OP!

I have that exact chip and I am priming 2.7 @1.45 right now...seems to be doing well. 2.8 on 1.5 did not happen, but it may be my board.
Might have to swap the ol' neo2 for something faster and PCI-E....

So far Optys running @ 2.65 @ 1.35 volts.
FSB: 265
Multi: 10x
HTT: 4x
Ram: 2.7
Chipset: 1.7
CPU: 1.35

Mem 1:1
3-3-2-8 1T

I have OCZ PC4000 EB Platinum

2.7 doesn't load windows so... maybe I need to do some more tweaking.

Exactly you HTT with a 4x is now over that magical 1000ghz threshold....

There is no way 2.65ghz will run at 1.35v and 2.7ghz wont load...lower the voltage the jumps should still be huge in terms of HTT from working and not....ONce you hit 1.45v it goes fast...

Absolute0...nice chip bro....

Do you think that chip could do 3ghz with high end air???

Did what you said, Absolute0. I have a SLI-Infinity :):blush::) so I can do ddr333. Windows Boots @ 2.7Ghz; 1.375v but core 1 fails Prime95 after 2 mins...

gonna try 1.4v

Does that board undervolt frm what you set ion the bios??? Also what kind of vcore drop if any do you see under an intense load...

It does. about .01 to .03 volts.

I have a great PSU so voltage reg shouldnt be a problem -- Enermax Noisetaker 600w

I think 2.7 is a no go. @ 1.45 PC froze @ fly forest demo in 3dmark05.

However, my CPU idle temp is @ 47*C...

Dont know if its the arctic silver still trying to do its thing...

Hell I ran 2.7 @ 1.75 volts on a 3500+ just 2 hrs ago... was 40 idle and 50 load...

It isn't always about the PSU..sometimes it is the board...

What I have always liked about my MSI board is that under load the vcore actually goes up .02v...no droop like seen with the Asus mobos of the past....

My Neo2 mobo though undervolts .06v from waht is set in the bios....1.45v set is 1.39v at idle and lods at 1.4-1.41v....This was the same whether I was running a 470watt whisper or a 600watt powerstream

1.75v??? Aree you sure??? That could be a death warrant for most 90nm A64 chips....I tried to stay under 1.55v with my 3000+ that did 2.66ghz but needed 1.57v....It did 2.7ghz with 1.61v but didn't feel compfortable...

lol I know! I asked that once and people said that as long as my temps are fine then I shouldnt worrty. Never went over 50C on a warm day.

How would I check for load voltage changes?

3 Ghz with the IHS on and an AC Freezer 64 Pro was prime stable with 1.48v.

With watercooling and IHS on, takes 1.40v. With IHS removes takes 1.39v.

About boards and power, all the DFI NF4 boards overvolt in actuality, by up to .07v. Also about the 48c load, try to keep it under 50, it will be hard if you need to give it more volts, but high temps hurts stability more than the added voltage helps it.

So far 2 runs of 3dmark05 prove to be stable @ 2.655 @ 1.4v; 3-3-3-8 1T; DDR 333; 3x HTT
I think my mobo is the limiting factor. Should find out soon enough when my A8R32 comes in.
BTW, 3dMark05 score: 12,328!
Not Bad :)

Got it to be stable @ 2.7 @ 1.45v
4x HTT
Mem running @ ddr300 speeds 3-3-3-8 @ 2.7
Chipset @ 1.7v

Most likely my memory combined with low vcore was to blame not to mention I was over-zealous with my x1900xt OC. Lowered it and allowed for decreased heat.

So far dual prime stable for 2.5 hrs...Load @ 50*C
Gonna try 2.8

I managed to get my 170 stable @ 2.65 on my Neo2.

FSB: 265
HTT: x4
Volts: 1.4 according to BIOS
RAM V: 2.7

RAM is running at 166, which is about 83% of 1:1, I guess that would be 5:6 ratio
OCZ Platinum running 2.5-3-3-8 1T @ 225 I think.

Kinda off the subject, but did anyone who used a Neo2 even have an issue with volt reporting? My monitors, in windows and the BIOS, never show changes to the vcore.

Nope, never had a problem with that...Sideeffect modded 1.8 bios and used Everest to montior system...

Congratulations OP on decent stepping!!! Man, now I kick myself...I ordered an Opteron 170 from monarch too, but after waiting a week and a couple days it still wasn't shipped so I cancelled, didn't know those steppings were still around.

Goodluck with the overclocking!

don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have new results.

Stables at 2.7 with 1.35 volts + 3.3%. It will go higher, but the amount of volts needed is not worth it.
Turns out that the percentage was the only volt change that worked, although the VID works WITH the percentage. weird.

So long as load is under 50C I think its safe.

BTW, I use the 1/11 ram bios so my RAM is faster.

ALso, I hit a wall @ 2.7 cos 2.75 my processor gets to be like 10*C higher @ idle -- 50*C!
Maybe with water cooling but I think thats all -- shows, over, folks.
