Opteron 165 ,, testing 0546MPMW stepping.... 2.8ghz stable so far

Just installed a brand new opt 165 on my expert,,, I pulled the board did some mods to the north bridge cooler,,, since the twinkle at jabtech is out of stock,, added some AS5 and got rid of that heat pad,,,,

Well I have booted the following and run prime for 20 mins on each so far just to get an idea what the chip can do.

2.6ghz ---> 1.33 vcore -- 25min prime stable --

2.8ghz --> 1.42 vcore -- It booted windows but restarted during prime,,,, probably just need more vcore

2.7ghz --> 1.46 vcore -- 40 min prime stable so far small and large FTT,,,,

,,,,So I rebooted with 2.8ghz and 1.50 vcore and ran an over night dual prime 8+ hours no errors,,, so the chip can do 2.8ghz ---> 1000mhz overclock so far,,,,

I mean 1000mhz over stock in first day cant be to bad
for a chip.... especially since my opt 170 couldnt do 2.7 with 1.63 vcore,,,,

well I just ran some preliminary tests,,, did some Large and Small FTT testing on dual prime ,,, all stable at 2.7ghz,,,

then I just ran 3dmark05 ,,,,

running at 2.7ghz,,,, and running ram at 250 right now till my g.Skill gets here,,,,

I just have to rerun the benches at 2.8ghz to see what I can bring them up to,,,, video cards also havent been overclocked at all yet,,,

I have the same stepping, and it is exactly the same. For now, I can't do anything higher, since my mobo is being RMAd. But I did 2.9 @ 1.5v for 6 hs., I think, before it primed out. So with 1.6v, I could definitely get 3.0, and higher, because of water. What are your temps, I see you also like watering your procs.

Not bad for first day out of the box.

EDIT: I did 2.8 @ 1.525v for 12 hrs. small ftts, so keep me updated, since our chips are identical.

Yeah I like water cooling my processor I never took the step to phase change yet,,,

as for my temps the DFI expert reports my idle around 21-22c and my load at like 34-35c but its known to be off for opteron's.....

im gonna try 2.9 later tonighti m waiting for some new g.skill to show up from UPS so ill try that out also,,,

Just got home from work and it ran 16 hours dual prime stable no errors,,, ill keep you update on how high I can get it stable,,,

spent a little time trying to get 2.9 stable but i could boot just fine but would crash and BSOD on prime,,,, so i just stayed at 2.8 and played some COD2 for 2 hours,,,,

totally stable at 2.8ghz and the new g.skill is running great,,,,

nice oc, my X2 3800+ can only get 2.7ghz at 1.5V

after reasearching what stepping I wanted I had narrowed it down to the MPMW or a 0547 TPMW,,,,

just kept checking ebay for a week hopeing one would pop up and checking the forums for sale section on a few sites and finally found one on ebay,,, retail box $350 ,,,lucked out I guess...
