Prices are in Canadian and they are the lowest I can get:

Opteron 165 socket 939 $223
Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 939 $180

I plan to OC as much as possible but no after market stuff. I am currently using Asrock 939 Dual, and will use a memory divider, people are hitting 2.7Ghz with the Opty with this Asrock board but not sure about the X2.

I don't really want to get higher level X2 they are expensive trying to save as much as possible.

current setup

Athlon 64 3000+ @2.2Ghz
8800GTS
2GB Kingston Value ram @ 166Mhz

Well many are getting 2.6 with stock so I really don't care about the 100mhz. Again I would be happy with 2.4 so it doesnt really matter

go with the opty 165 if you have an oc'ing mb.

i got a 165 two weeks ago from da egg
now running 295x9=2655mhz

FX-60 speed.

if ur mb can't get over 250 hump then you need the higher multi.

The opty is only good if the rest of your system can OC with it. You RAM won't help in getting it there.

I have a mate with a 165 @ 2.5, on aftermarket cooling, which isn't bad.

keep in mind that the opty will come with a very nice cooler which might get you a better OC
