Opteron 165 CCB1E 0550VPMW overclock

Recently got this from Monarch with their combo deal. Runs 2.7ghz with 1.39v and I currently have it running at 2.8ghz with 1.45v. Why the big voltage difference? I don't know, must've hit the sweet spot. I hit 2.9ghz with 1.52v, but one instance of SuperPi failed in 2 minutes while the other one finished perfectly. I'm gonna try to bump the voltage up to 1.5 and shoot for 3ghz

2.8ghz OC
311x9 3xHT and 133FSB RAM divider. Temps average 49c load.

you can use cpu-z for vcore value on the dfi mobos..the readings are too low

what is your bios setting...

for example 1.35*110% or whatever..also these mobos tend to overvolt with load..so becareful

if you are set to 1.5v in the bios like I am ..I am probably getting 1.53-1.55v at load

You guys are so lucky. I just got a 170 and I can only hit 2.6 1.42v, which isnt bad, but it takes me 1.55v to get prime stable on both cores at 2.7.

Core 1 will prime at 2.7ghz 1.45v, 2.8ghz 1.52v, but my Core 0 failes prime at 2.7 1.52v

For 2.8 it's 1.475 in BIOS.

I'm in the same boat, same results. I can get to 2.7GHz @ 1.55volts, or 2.6 @ 1.45volts. My Core 0 always fails first too.

relax the memory timings....... just try it!! with the memory controller on die these things get tempermental.

Very interesting, never even thought of that. Will give it a try :thumbsup:

I have the same stepping and it's dual Prime stable at 2.7GHz@1.35V, 2.8GHz@1.4V, and SuperPi 32M stable at 2.9GHz@1.45V. I'll Prime it overnight at 2.9GHz and see how she does.

ok, so i loosened to the memory timings to 2.5-3-3-7 on my OCZ platinum and I am now Prime stable at 2.7GHZ 1.5v.

Very nice.

A lot of people give up on these things when they have another 50- 100mhz (or more), to squeeze out of them. It's all in the memory

Yeah, dude I definately owe you a :beer: 2.7GHZ at 1.5v is a lot more doable than 2.7 @ 1.55v.

I got a little greedy and tried 2.8 @ 1.5v and 1.52v, but Core 0 failed after about 30 seconds, even with timings at 3-3-3-7. I think 2.7 is as high as this chip wants to go.

But hey, @ 1.5v that's fine with me!

The lowest divider I can set my memory with is the 150 option (3:4) - for some reason windows wont boot at any lower setting - this gives me 217.5mhz on the memory, but as its only value RAM, its tends to flake out as low as 221mhz - I manually set the timings to 3-3-3-8, and I've had no crashes so far, but still I can't boot into windows at a lower memory divider (140, 130, 120 or 100) - Anybody had the same experiences? Any tips?

My Opty didn't like lower dividers either. I ended up using a 166 divider which is still not enough.

Will have to let you know in a few weeks what this stepping will do.....Have the same CCB1E from Monarch (Combo deal), but have to get a few more pieces for my new rig yet.....Some decent HD's and a case....

I've thought it's the board, not the processor? Also depending on the BIOS revision. For instance, my current BIOS (623 Official) with my board, 150 divider doesn't work but 133 does. 100 works, too. When I had the 510 BIOS I had a problem with 180 and 140 dividers. More "normal" dividers tend to always work though. (100, 133, 166, 200)
