Opteron 165 and Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe

Does anyone have an approximate idea of how far the opteron 165 will overclock on this mobo. Its got TWINX1024-3200C2PT corsair memory.

I was lucky to get one of the good steppings CCBBE 0615DPMW, so want to push it to its max.

Also out of curiosity, what's the best mobo and memory combination apart from the DFIs to get the maximum overclock out of this opteron. Will the stock heatsink suffice for max overclocking or will i have to resort to an alternative, and if yes, which would be recommended by those who have had a go with the oppy before?

Some people have better luck on Asus mobos than others. 2.6 ghz is probably a safe bet. If you want to max your overclock, pick up a DFI. Lots of people still selling them used in FS/FT section.

I picked up a DFI Expert a few months ago and was able to get 2.6 ghz out of my 3000+ winchester. As a comparison, I couldn't get more than 2.4 out of it on my old Asus A8V. I also took a x2 3800+ to 2.6 as well as my FX55 to 3 ghz. (No relative data on the Asus mobo for those procs).

I have an A8N-SLI Deluxe also. also own the MB in my sig, (dfi Ultra-D\and sli-DR)
I'm shopping for a 165 to put in my Asus board and allready have some OCZ PC5000 ram coming... SO

I'll update you as soon as i find out. Should be within a month before i get my opty 165

PS, when and where did you get your CPU?

AND your ram should work just fine
