**UPDATE 2/8/06: Coupon has been used up folks. **DEAD***

I take no credit for this, since I found it mentioned on another forum. Monarchcomputer.com has the Opteron 165 Retailbox 939 DualCore for $328.89 with $2.99 fedex shipping.

AMD Opteron 165 Dual-Core 1.8GHz 1MB (per core) 64/32-Bit Socket 939 (Retail Box-w-Fan)

Theres a coupon code for $30 off!!!
I would list the code here, but rules prevent me from doing so. pm. 🙁
I have no idea when it expires or how many uses are allowed. I confirmed it works because I just ordered one myself.

UPDATE: Code is limited to first 70 uses and expires on 2/21/06.

Total came to:
328.89
+$2.99 shipping
=331.88
-$30 coupon
=$301.88 shipped

Decent deal I thought considering they sell for close to $400 on ebay now after amds price increase. Not to mention these come with those great amd stock copper heatpipe sinks that sell for $15-$20 on ebay as well.

I dont know why you posted that. I just said there was...I already bought one so I know it works. I just placed an order 5 seconds ago.

confirmed, it DOES work, but i decided not to get one.... hard to justfiy the extra 300 when i have a decent CPU (2.5 venice)

Edit: I decided to get one after all, since this is a pretty good deal and i have been itching to get a DC (after I parted with the same 165 2 weeks ago). There is some chance that I might not keep it .... who know... i will probably throw it out on the For Sale forum if I decide to not keep it

DDR1
Socket 939 is a dead end, bad investment at this point

good luck getting $50 for this CPU once the AM2 CPUs come out in a couple of months

[pwned]

Every socket is eventually a dead in. The fact is, right now a dual core S939 processor is best CPU on the market.

1.8 ghz 1 mb cache per core? total of 3.2 ghz when both are together.???? wha? (sorry guys, i 'm not keeping up to date w/ my tech stuff)

you're obviously using an Intel, and have been sucked into their marketing 🙂

WTF! The single core Optys are insane in price now yet the dual cores that overclock almost as good aren't much more. I paid $240 shipped for my 146 a week ago, yet for $60 more I could've had this!! At the time I didnt think DC would be any use, but now I kinda feel like it would've been a better idea.

Socket AM2 is expected to hit the market mid-2006, but how long will it hit the mainstream?

Also, there are rumors floating around that AM2 will be delayed, just google it.

Welcome to the world of technology ? Dead end??

hmm.. I have a p180, neopower480, and dfi ultra-d on the way right now. Was planning on just swapping my opty 146 in and going for 3ghz (currently at 2.74 stock volts). This is very tempting.. but i must resist, I only paid $170 for the 146. But i do have all this swapping out to do anyway. Hard decision.

Sell the 146!

Just curious, i've never seen the reason posted why, i'm sure it was a long time ago, why aren't coupons allowed to be posted? Not fair to other sites that offer them?
