I just got off the phone with my Mammee and she said it arrived about 15 minutes ago. I ordered a retail Socket 939 Opteron 148 from Monarch. I had her open the box and read what was printed on the chip through the plastic window.
CABYE 0540 FPBW
 w00t! I'm glad I started this thread! Thanks for the help guys! I probably would have ordered OEM if it weren't for some of the first couple of posts. I'm not going to be greedy; I'll probably just shoot for 11 x 250 = 2.750 since I'm a complete noobie overclocker.
So, is FPBW a good stepping? I know that the 0540 part is good, but what does the FPBW mean?

Hey guys,
I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an opty 148 (considering what's going on with the pricing of E3 Athlon 64). What's my best bet now for a good stepping? OEM or retail, NewEgg or Monarch? I will probably be ordering on Mon, 12/19.

Go to this link they have some information on the CABYE 0540, 0543 steppings. Looks like the 0543 may be better than the 0540. I saw 1.4V running @ 3102MHz with CABYE 0543 setpping.
