hi there, i'm new to these forums. can I just ask if anyone knows anything abou this stepping? Is it supposed to be a good overclocker? I have recently bought it and tried it in an MSI Neo4 K8N platinum but the board was a bad overclocker anyways. Arriving today i have a DFI nf3 Ultra hoping that will be a very good board for overclocking it. Anyone have any experience/advice with that board and or this stepping of 146?

Many thanks

cheers mogadon, have had a look there. I have the system set up now and took the memory out of the equation with a 100 divider. The cpu can get to 10 X 280 which is all i want to be honest and the max ive tested so far. Could you perhaps advise me on memory timings as I am a novice.I currently have agp lock on 67, HT X 3, spread spectrum disabled and 2T ram timings with the rest on auto. But whenever i go to a divider higher than 100, (133, 166, 200) the system fails to POST. Any help or advice would be appreciated

Cheers

i have a 0604EPAW running 3.0 ghz with 1.45 volts but mine is a CAB2E.

but should be similar.. i think :)

we need more system specs such as what memory you are using... such as...

i'm using ocz plat rev2 pc3200.

ahhh gotcha.

4x512 huh?

err. Well looks like you have 2T enabled which is good.

10x280 with 100 divider correct?

so that should put your mem way under pc3200 speed.

have you manually set the timings?

looks like it's cas 3 mem. it's a good chance that if things are on auto that the cas timing is too tight for it to boot up at when you use a different divider.

Try the 133 divider and manually set your timings in the bios to:

Cas 3
Trcd 4
Trrd 4
Trc 8
Trfc 14
Tras 7
Trp auto
Twr auto
twtr auto
trtw auto
Tref 3120

Max Async Latency 9
Read Preamble 6
Idle cycle limit 16

Try these settings and see if it boots up with 133 divider

hi guys further to getting my system up and running I am wondering about temps. I am using stock volts with the afformentioned 2.8 GHZ clock speed n ram timings as above. I have run the machine constantly from about 10 last night until now, playing intensive games; CS: Source, Far Cry, Oblivion, BF:2 etc, burnt DVDs and encoded video. All has performed brilliantly and, touch wood, not crashed once. However when i check my cpu temp it seems to be constantly 52-54 degrees celcius whether gaming or idle. If it everything is operating ok is that anything to worry about or shoud l i be worried?! I have a 64 Freezer pro cooler on it as well.

CPU= Temp 53
SYS=35
AUX=38
HD0=27

hm...

strange that idle temps don't drop.

i'd say you're okay.

i try to run between 45-55C's max so if that were my chip, i'd be okay with 52-54 load.

but something is wrong with that idle temp for sure though.

yea i have a CABYE 0540 and it can run 2.9 easy on stock fan stock voltage. idle its in the high 20s low 30s and at load about 50C. check to make sure you dont have too little or too much thermal compound on there and let it cool down and restart it and check the temps in teh bios.
