The Democrats are getting their first filibuster in. The filibuster is over office space and funding. The democrats are demanding 50-50% split. Historically the minority party has always received 1/3 of funding/staffing and the majority part 2/3. Is it wise for the democrats to waste political capital on this issue?

OR did the democrats just not get the memo that they lost the senate in the election?

Well if they protest everything Bush does, it will only cause them more trouble.

The libs are just whining and crying becuause they don't have control of the swingset this semester. They desperately want to convince the American people that the swingset is only safe when the libs are playing on it. If anybody else plays on the swingset the libs tell them that they don't have the ability to do so. If, however, you vote for them, they will allow you to watch them swinging merrily and laughing because they know that you are too stupid to understand the joke.

Please, why don?t you idiots read the real story? When the Dem?s had control in the last senate THEY gave the Republicans 50-50 split, and they are only asking for what THEY gave them. But now that the Rep?s are in power they want it all for themselves.

The Democrats' argument is based on the agreement in the last Congress -- when the Senate was initially split 50-50 -- that allowed the Republicans to keep even committee ratios after power shifted to the Democrats when Sen. Jim Jeffords, I-Vt., left the GOP.

Typical politicians. But it's always the democrats that whine the loudest when things don't go their way.

Not exactly. AT 2000 the republicans had a 50-50 split, they had a majority Cheney would cast the deciding vote. The republicans caved to 50-50 power sharing, not the dems.

This time the Republicans have a clear majority, so normal rules should apply.
