Just got a Midnight Find 7a to replace my expiring HTC One-X (Tegra 3 international model). Since it's the Chinese model without google services I rooted and threw those on there right after an OTA update.
So far I love the hardware, more details in a moment... as for the software; the launcher is also not terrible as far as I've experienced. I'm still working on getting my keyboard worked out (was using sense and liked it), and my google calendar widget is being strange and seemingly won't let me have it in month view a the moment.
Hardware build quality is phenomenal, imo. I love the Midnight color, but the white version feels better with the textured surface. While playing with them at the store I swapped backs and even with the slight coloring on the side it looked nice, so if needed I can swap to the white cover for the surface later. First impression is that it looks gorgeous and the build quality feels greater than the One-X. The shape and feel of the onscreen buttons leaves me unaware that the phone is huge compared to the one it replaced. Camera takes great pictures and is fast as can be. And the screen is beautiful!
After a few hours of playing around I definitely think I'm going to be happy with the phone and I'm sure the software kinks can be worked out by just poking around and finding which apps I need to make everything feel at home like I'd made the One X feel for the last couple years.
Any suggestions of keyboards? I prefer the swype-typing style and I know I replaced my swype with the HTC Sense keyboard for some reason that made sense at the time. Maybe it's time to try Swype again and see why I decided to retire it? As for the calendar, I'll attempt to work out google's issue, if not the one that came in ColorOS looks and seems to function nicely, but it's just not what I'm used to
Oh yeah, I picked the phone up for about $480 and they threw in 3 cases, a portable battery, t-shirt, and about $50 of credit on my account... so not too bad, I reckon.
I can post some pictures or what-not later on if ya'll want, let me know.
