My g/f had an opossum in her garage. I would have left it alone but it was fighting with her cats.

I took out a golf club for defense and her father got out his gun. Poked the Opossum until it was in position for a headshot 🙂

Animal is about the size of a house cat, and it's wedged comfortably into a secure corner. I tried "prying" it out to no avail. No pics since I don't have a digital camera.
 
When they feel threatened they will play dead..they are for the most part harmless. We kept a baby one for a while since our dog scared the mom away from it. It was a neat animal.

They are relatively harmless animals. Just get a thick pair of leather gloves and pick it up by the tail and haul it outside.
