I'm going to be building a new machine, mainly for gaming. I'd like advice on all of the parts I've selected. Thanks for any input.

Power Supply: I got an Ultra X-Finity 600w power supply for free from fry's. Thats the only component I'm relatively "locked into"

Case: Antec p180

Motherboard: Either the ASUS P5B-Plus or GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3. I really want solid capacitors.

CPU: Either the E6600 or E6320. I want the larger cache these offer, but am open to a slower chip too as long as it will easily hit around 2.8-3.0. Will the stock cooler be good enough, or should I get an aftermarket? If I should get an aftermarket, then please reccomend one for under $50.

Ram: Either 2 gig or 4 gig of cheap 800mhz ddr2

Video card - an eVGA 8800GTS. Should I get the 320 or 640 version? I want to use a 1680 x 1050 monitor.

Sound Card - I'm debating using the onboard sound (if I get the asus) my old audigy 2zs, or an Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series. This is the area I know the least about. I will be connecting to logitech z-680's that I've had for a few years and still love.

Monitor - I'm leaning towards this 22" samsung http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16824001096

I'm open to any good gaming LCD between 19 and 22", but would prefer one that runs at 1680 x 1050.

Harddrive - I'm thinking a 320 gig Seagate 7200.10, since everyone says they're so fast. If I don't get this, then I'll get a 320 or 500 gig Samsung.

OS - I'm leaning towards dual booting vista home professional and XP pro. I can get vista for $70. Do you think it's worth it?

Thanks again for any input. I want to place my order next week at the latest.

- DS3 and E6320. The E6320/E6300 is dead easy to overclock; change the FSB to 401MHz and ding! - instant 2.8GHz.
- 2GB of RAM for now; you'll only see 3GB~ in XP anyway if you bought more.
- Get the 640MB 8800GTS as you're running a large resolution.
- The onboard sound for both the Asus and Gigabyte motherboards is more than adequate. If you really must have a sound card get a cheap X-Fi (the XG Fatal1ty are overpriced).
- HD: 250GB/320GB/500GB Seagate 7200.10 or Western Digital KS.
- If you can get Vista that cheap then hey why not. I'll be getting it for $30 so I'll be installing it before the end of the month just to see what it's like.

I'd really appreciate any more input people can give me, especially on which video card to get, and what I should do with the monitor.
