I like the Elantra GT, the back end looks nice, but I just cant' stand the front end..the car looks cross-eyed.

But for the features its a good if not great car.

btw, any of you guys check out the new Sonata?? The front looks like a GS and teh rear looks like a Jag..

Can't Hyundai come up with their own designs?? I don't mind borrowing styles from other manufactures, but outright copying it? Their XG300 copied the front end of the older Infiniti I30, their Elantra GT rear-end is copied straight off a Saab, the only original car they have is the Tiburon, and teh front end of that looks like a frog!

I love the GT. I've put about an hour behind the wheel of two of them. It is an INCREDIBLE buy for the $$. It has excellent standard features and very high build quality for a $13,000 car. There really is no other new car that can come close to it for the $$.

Back seats are very comfortable and offer a huge amount of space for the cars size. I can fit a 17" monitor box in the back of it without dropping the seats. Knee room in the front seat is superb.

My only complaint is that leather is the only choice. I would prefer to have a nice sport cloth instead. But that's just me.

If you can drive a stick, definitely go for that. I was not impressed in the least bit with the auto tranny in the one I test drove. Very dumb tranny. Also sucks a lot of juice out of the car. 5 speed is the way to go with it.

Be sure to compare it to some other cars, but it is the clear winner.

Good luck!

I don't know how it compares to the Protege. I haven't tested one of them. The GT's that I took out also had the comfort suspension as opposed to the the "sport" suspension. That's one thing that you need to watch out for.

If you want about...oh...1000 posts, both good and bad, on the GT, head over to the Elantra GT discussion over at Edmunds
