I have read nothing but good things about this...And the price is great at shop at home with the screen...I plan on getting surround sound of course...screw the built in speakers...

Like I said I read nothing but positives..but you guys here seem to know best..so I won't feel comfortable making this purchase without your approval...

Now, my question is is it really HD? they are kinda sketchy about those details and I don't see any component hookups in the back...Will I be able to hook my Xbox 360 right up to it and enjoy my games in 720P and 1080i?

Thanks in advance guys..

That's a 480p projector, not HD. HD will still look good on it though if you can get it connected.

There are better 480p DLP projectors out there like the Infocus 4805 and Optoma H31.

One big limitation on that is the throw distance. It's very limited in where you can put it to get a given size. Look it up on projector central and check out the screen size calculator.

Had to cut short and go to class this morning.

Here's the throw distance options for that one

To fit that 106" screen you're looking at a range of 11.9' to 13' and you probably can only do table mounting if you're planning on using the DVD player in it.

On a more standard projector you'd have more options for mounting it.
The preferred way to do it would be to get a ceiling mount and have it upsidedown shooting in the downward configuration towards the wall. This will keep the projector away from the seating position to minimize fan noise, it wont take up floor space, and risk of damage will be minimal among other things.

There was a deal on Infocus 4805 refurbs for $499 on Black Friday. With a projector like that for the same 106" image you'll have a range of 13.6' to 16.4' to mount it. With the one you linked to, it would seem that you'd be limited to table mounting it in front of the seating position. If you're doing gaming with it, having the projector on a table in front of the gamers might not be the best idea. Out of the way ceiling mounted would seem to be a much safer place to put it so it doesn't get bumped etc.

It looks like the VGA input on it actually can do component input too, so that's not going to be an issue. Especially if you're hooking up to a hometheater system, I think it makes more sense to just have video running to the projector and not have to touch it. Moving a projector just a fraction of an inch will throw off the image quite a bit, especially if you're trying to match up to a screen. Having the DVD player built in and having to touch it every time you want to watch a movie doesn't make sense to me. If you already have an xbox360 capable of playing DVDs, then what's the point anyway? I don't know the quality of the DVD player in most gaming systems or this projector though, so it might actually have some advantages.

I guess in summary it might be a good idea if you fit the limited usage where you need a table mounted short throw projector and don't need the options for mounting it other ways later on.
