Overall, I thought the speech was written and delivered very well. Whatever one's thoughts about Obama he is indeed a very charismatic speaker.
In my opinion the majority of the speech was very neutral and safe although I did clearly notice a push for even bigger government and even more federal intervention....something I don't think is the role of the government. He also made some comments regarding the relevance/interpretation of the Constitution which many will continue to find alarming.
All of that said, for the most part, it was a good speech with a lot of feel good comments. However, I don't think he offered any real compromise or solutions that will convince either party to come out of their trenches. He really needs to LEAD in that regard or I expect four more years of stagnation.
