I like the overall design, but I think you should put a phone number and maybe address on it as well. A phone number for sure. I realize you'll probably have that on your web site, but remember that some people may not be much for computers and would like to just be able to call up and ask questions.

For most people the first thing they think when considering a photographer is whether or not they'll be available when they need them, a quick phone call will take care of that and if they've got some other people's numbers right there in front of them they may call them up first and get talked into making a decision before they even get to looking at your web site.

xxx.xxx.xxxx = phone number, I edited it for posting online at the moment 😉

you should go into porn instead of regular photography. your motto could be:

"Pics so hot, they will give you a Stiffy!" 🙂

What do you guys think of the overall design?

I'm a graphic design major (1.33 more years to go wooo! 😀) and the design is ok but your typefaces suck. 🙁 Plus the alignment and sizing of them need some work. Definitely do not use 3 or 4.

And to the person that said a business card doesn't matter, a good professional design is always important whether it be a flyer, your business card, a company logo etc.

As said in another post, the sizing will be tweaked - I know it's off at the moment.

Specifically which typefaces suck and why? Don't just say they suck =/

I have a lot of fonts but I'm stuck with a ton of free ones I downloaded when I was bored in a graphic design class.

I don't really want to pay for any....and I certainly am not going to pay for a "professional" to design one. I'm not too shabby at design (IMHO)...not as good as others and I'm no artist but I can throw together some pretty good stuff I think.

I'm not saying you or your design is bad (the design is good), just the typefaces. Maybe it is the sizing, not the typefaces that I don't like, but something needs to be tweaked for sure.

Also on the circles at the bottom the one on the far right is spaced to far out I think. And are you going to be able to make out the picture once it is printed? Maybe lighten it up a little or something, because when it all gets shrunk and printed it may just look like a grey blob (squint at it), or maybe not i dunno. Best of luck with it. 🙂

Yeah I've been working on it some more. I have increased the size of the website address font, decreased the size of the email font and increased the size of the font for #1 that says photography. I think that helped a lot, though I mean to go through all my fonts again for the phone number/email/web address as that one was kinda added hastily. I like the font for my name personally.

LOL now that you said that, I cant stop thinking of it.

BTW, I voted without reading the whole original post and didnt realize the font differences. What I did notice is that the exposure of the picture is different, especially in the first one...it looks quite a bit darker than the others.

Illusion...it's exactly the same in all of them. It was not changed. It may be the JPG artifacting a little differently in each shot.

You shouldn't increase the size of any of them. Put everything at say 10 and see how it looks. Move the photography over some so it is not just hanging there.

The word Photography will be very close to the edge of the card after it is trimmed. You can't see the guidelines in those shots but there is "extra" space all the way around, maybe 1/8th-1/4th inch.

The font size is 10 (btw I'm using photoshop...I hate illustrator which you probably use quite a bit yourself).

I think it looks a bit large because the image is a lot larger than what a business card will be.

Font is AvantGarde Md BT if you have it.

For photography, I like #3. What font is that?

On the other ones what font is photography?

me too, it looks like graffiti, which goes along with art, which I guess is tied to photography. 1 is for invitations to weddings and such. 2 and 4 are just blah.
