I'm going to build a new system. I was thinking of the Iwill KK266-R. I would like to utilize the ram that I have in my old system. I currently have three Mushkin 128mb PC133 rev 3 sdram. Newegg has the board at $122. I would like to buy an AMD 1 GHZ processor, but I don't know which one 200 or 266 mhz?

This what I was think of using in my new system:

WDHD 80GB 7200rpm ata 100
HP cd-writer 12x10x32 ide
32x dvd
LS 120
DLINK 10/100 pci
SB LIVE pci
Voodoo 3000 AGP (will replace later)
Enlight tower w/300w psu

Is there a hsf on the northbridge? (Iwill kk266)

there is a heatsink on the north bridge, but no fan. it can handle the 266 mhz processor.
i recommend the board. I have one, so I am biased, but I really like the microstepping overclocking in the bios, and have had no problems. socket a little close to the edge, so messing around with the processor or hsf after mobo is installed is kinda hard. I finally got the hang of reattaching my fop38 without removing the motherboard, but I should win a gold metal for it.

one more thing. i haven't had any problems, but I have read about others having problems with their sb cards operating properly on this board. I didn't have problems with my sb sound card, but removed it and am using onboard sound anyway. maybe i'll realize whether this is a mistake when I stop playing baulder's gate.

The Iwill KK266-R is arguably the best SDRAM KT133A motherboard out right now. They do come with a northbridge HSF, but they do not use any thermal paste. I really don't think you could choose a better KT133A board...

My KK266-R has a heatsink but no fan on the northbridge.

Since you've got PC133 RAM, go with a 266FSB Athlon. The motherboard will work with it.

heatsink and a fan? crazy. here's where i suddenly get disproportionately angry and demand a new motherboard. Anyone get the 'A' south bridge? I read that a few made their way into the stores

Like mine. No fan, little green heatsink we're all so familiar with. Put a dab of paste behind it just because. Nice board, great support when they had that problem with the non raid version awhile back (all cleared up now). I like Iwill, hope they're still a contender when I'm in the market for a board again.

Yeah, actually I did get mine from Newegg...it was a few months ago though. It looked very similar to the one on the KT7A. The heatsink was green, but it did have a little fan on it. I may be wrong, it was awhile ago. I see if I still have the HSF kickin around somewhere..It doesn't matter too much though since I already removed it an threw on a 55mm Alpha heatsink and a 20CFM 50mm fan...:)
