forget my previous thread on comparing the new camry to the nonte carlo, I test drove a red SE-R and fell in love, it was so much faster then my mazda6 and looks hot! Now the question is lease or finance?

Uhmm... he didn't even state the price
With some good deals and incentives, the Altima SE-R is easily $5k less than even a base model G35, if those exist.

Have you driven the Mazdaspeed6?

Superior car IMHO, and the black/white leather interior is P I M P.

then how can you assume you can't get a 2006 G35 sedan below MSRP?

comparing MSRP, the SE-R is $29650, with the G35 at $31200. with less than $2k, you get better interior and 38 more horses. lets just say you really can't get a base G35, and for some unknown reason all altima's go for $3000 under MSRP (fat chance), you might as well go for the 3.5SE... $6000 for some rims, minor powertrain/suspension mods, and the R badge is just insane.

Check out the incentives on the SE-R right now in the Altima forums.
They are basically selling for invoice or less, PLUS $1750 in rebates.

The G35 (no packages) is selling for slightly above invoice which means the difference is $3k right off the bat.
Throw in some packages and options to get them comparably equipped and you are easily at a $5k difference.

Have you even driven either or you just mag racing?

Well you and I are switching places it seems...

My last car was a 2003 Nissan Altima 2.5S 5-speed manual.

My current car is a 2006 Mazdaspeed6

Here are my thoughts...

Altima was roomy as all hell, and for a naturally aspirated 4, it had some decent power to it, however even with the 175hp/180tq, I could really feel the torque steer when really taking off. That and the wheels did a whole bunch of skipping before digging in and taking off. From what I understand this is far more pronounced in the powerful 6 in the SE-R.

Not sure if this applies to the SE-R, but there was also considerable body roll when taking corners.

My Mazdaspeed6 is a little tighter on the inside... (still pretty roomy, I mean I fit comfortably at 6'5" 300+ lbs), however I get no torque steer, no wheel skip, and mind blowing handling... all for a compareable price to the SE-R.

As far as pure performance... from what I've read, both cars are very close in the 0-60, but from there it's all Speed6.

But you might also be like me... it seemed silly to buy the same car again... so I was hesitant to even consider the SE-R.

Either way you're gonna have yourself a beast of a car.

He's racing from practical point of view. The VQ should drive the rear wheels, not the front ones;)

Aren't you gonna make your Legacy GT sales pitch?

With the G35 so close in price, why would you even bother with the Altima SE-R?
