Opinions Needed.......

I can't really decide between a Handheld or a PSP. I was sort of thinking about a Nintendo DS. I guess my main question is... How are the games on the Handhelds? What handheld would you reccomend in the sub $300 price range? How is the internet quality?, Is it just bearable or is it pretty cool? I know the PSP is mostly a gaming unit, but apparantly you can use it for browsing, pictures, video and stuff. lmk what you guys think. Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

edit: I guess I wanted to get more opinions on handhelds like palms/axims etc. That is where my decision lies. How are the games on the PDA's? and so forth....

If you want it for the games, don't even consider the PSP, the only games it has going for it is lumines and GTA. The Nintendo DS is sweet, and has sweet games... (Mario Kart DS, several more that'll be wifi compatible)

I tried the PSP for a few days. The biggest problem with it was that it loads from the disc all the time. The action stops a lot while it loads a new area or animations. That turned me off right away.

FYI it's Nintendo DS and not Game Boy DS. 😉

I'd get a DS because it has much more promising games than the PSP has to offer.

I love my DS, and there are tons of great, creative games (Trauma Center: Under the Knife is my current fave). PSP just didn't have any games that drew me in when I looked, but there are a lot of good looking games coming down the pipe for it (Katamari Damacy!). Of course, DS has lots of great games coming out soon as well (New Super Mario Bros, Metroid Hunters, Super Monkey Ball). Plus it has the whole GBA backlibrary available to it. If you aren't too interested in the multimedia aspects of the PSP, I say DS all the way.

If you want to browse the web, a Dell Axim x50v with 640x480 is probably the best choice next to using a laptop. It will also make a good e-book reader and decent MP3 player (lacking in memory though). There are a few games, but nothing like what you'd get with a Nintendo DS.

i LOVE my DS. the games are awesome.

the PSP just doesn't have a very strong library right now, IMO.

Mario DS, Mario Kart, and FInal Fantasy IV Advance are keeping me PLENTY busy.

I have both, and to be honest, I don't like either. Neither have good games. Everything put on the DS (other than Mario Kart) is a gimmick. Everything put on the PSP is a bad version of some console game.

Do you use the DS for any of the thousands of GBA games?

Depends on what you want. If you're going to mainly game, then I suggest the DS. The games are much better for the DS, as the PSP really only has 2 good games (GTA & Lumines). The battery life on the PSP also is not as great as the DS, but that's because the PSP is more powerful and sucks power from disk usage. The PSP has manyo ther nifty features such as a web browser, MP3 player capability and the ability to play old ROMs (with a little work).

I guess if I'm going with a gaming system I will probably go with the DS, but I kinda wanted internet....
