oh, syphilis? you forgot to add the paint thinner once the week-old, sun-fermented capers started to bloom in the Tom Collins mix. As for your FIAT, are you sure that you bathed the spark plugs in the mix and re-seated them before filling your oil reservoir with the rest?

Is that before or after changing the headlight fluid? Sometimes the order of things is important, and sometimes not. It's a judgment call. Some have good judgment and some don't. That's just the way it goes.

I have never heard, or tried, or know anyone who's tried cheddar on their apple pie.

I've had it a couple times, it actually works & is pretty good. I don't go out of my way to get it tho...plain apple pie still wins, but it's worth trying if you're ever at a place that has decent ingredients & offers it.

Okay, guy, if this doesn't work, I'm prepared to denounce you as a charlatan once and for all!

replacing or adding 1/4 to 1/2 of the butter in a crust recipe with shredded cheddar is delicious especially in apple pie

Interesting. I may have to look around and see if anyone offers it here. Maybe I can get the wife to bake one sometime.

Sharp or mild? White or orange? (assumption would be mild white cheddar)

It's good if you have a good pie with real cheese (i.e. don't use Kraft). You want a good-quality cheese with it. It also helps to have a really good-quality pie, not like a grocery-store one. I think I had it once at a nice restaurant and once at a farmer's market. It's not as good as say, peanut butter & jelly, but it the combination does work...I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but I'd definitely eat it if offered!

I admit, I'm having some slight trouble imagining that, but I do generally trust you in these matters, so I'll defer to your judgement.

Balsamic vinegar definitely goes well on fruits, deserts and sweets, provided it is paired with the correct ingredients and used properly.

The key is to also use the correct balsamic vinegar. Most supermarkets have cheap balsamic that is basically wine vinegar that is flavored with balsamic essence and I agree is inappropriate for sweets.

The balsamic you want should only have cooked grape must in its ingredient list and be aged several years to a syrup like texture. It is expensive with highly concentrated flavors and should be used sparingly.

The balsamic you dont want will list wine vinegar in its ingredient list and will be liquid and free flowing. This imitation balsamic vinegar is cheap and the one that dominates most supermarket shelves.

If using the correct balsamic, you dont cook with it. Apply it in drops to the finished dish right before serving. it is very sweet and intensely flavored so experiment before you apply.

heh dunno about mild, i always buy whatever is the sharpest
there are lots of 'cheddar crust' recipes around with varying proportions
as to color, depends on what color you want to see little flecks of in the crust

headlight fluid? That's why I keep jars of my own urine stored in the trunk.

Mozzarella will be way to dense and gooey for what you're going for.

I made some pies with raspberries and goat cheese many years ago as a high-end dessert for a catered event and it was fantastic. Goat cheese will have more of the milky-smooth properties you're looking for. A quick Google search found something similar to what I made (I used a crumble crust with walnuts on mine though. It looks like they went with almonds) You could also try brie or even ricotta.

Cream cheese or Cottage cheese is about as far as I'd go. That Cheddar in the crust idea mentioned earlier in the thread sounds good though.
