Audiophiles chime in: Which one?

STR-DG800 for $280

Harman Kardon AVR 240 for $320

Both 7.1 recievers, and money isn't a problem. Filling the inputs isn't an issue. I don't have any HDMI using devices, but in the future I may have a device that may use it. And my TV has only one DVI input (possibility of HDMI/DVI adapter) and my computer uses it. But I figure I'll just use component (or a HDMI/component adapter, if they exist) if need be.

And if you would happen to know of a cheaper 7.1 receiver that's quality, let a brother know.

Last tiem I checked Pioneer was the OEm for a good number of other brands.
They make a solid product for a great price.

These aren't really audiophile type units, but I tend to prefer HK by a wide margin over sony when it comes to audio.

I am not an audiophile, but I really do appreciate good sound. I am on my 2nd generation of AVRs and I have a special affinity towards HK. The only reason, I didn't get it this time around is because it was 3 times the cost of the Denon I did get with no cost justification.

I have never used the 240 but I still like HK over Pioneer generally.

Avoid sony audio gear like the plauge. it is complete and utter crap.

Their ES stuff however is pretty nice.

HK has always built well powered gear.
