Opinion Poll - What is the best gaming router.

I'm wanting to setup a Q3 server on my @home cable connection. What is the best router to use? I see a lot of info on the linksys routers, but I also hear about alot of drop connections.

Has anybody got a Q3 server running on this kinda setup?

well there really is no such thing as a "gaming router" the question I guess you are asking is what is the best routers, and I think that goes without saying. The best routers are made by Cisco and are not cheap. For something like running a gaming server and a home network, cisco equipment, for most people, is totaly out of the question. In this case a linksys OR linux box doing NAT would work perfectly fine (degrade of performance but better reliability if you used linux doing NAT)

I know some routers are easier to setup for gaming (port forwarding and such.) I've got a Dlink 701 that just ignores the 27960 port forwarding. Maybe a better question is how do I get existing router to work with Q3. Cisco's are the extreme, nice but I'm poor.

You might be better off just trying to go with a Linux box as a router and configuing it. You'll get total control, and maybe even better performance off it 🙂
