Ahh yeah, I vaguely recalled GE selling its appliances division but not the particulars. Haier is an absolute appliances powerhouse, but little known in the U.S.

Not sure what to infer from your edit, but Lowe's has an "exclusive" Hisense French door model for $1200 that was surprisingly decent. Or at least I would pick that over the notorious LG and Samsung fridges at the same price point.

I've been trying to order a Whirlpool unit since yesterday, but the Web site is stupid. I'll have to call in or go into a store, but I'll lose a nice Samsung Pay cashback. :(

I wasn't trying to list them all; just pointing out there are at least 6 OEMs.
I don't think Haier is unknown .People are very likely to buy their mini fridge or their room AC from one of the big players in the supply chain: Wally World.

And promptly never buy another after the first mini fridge breaks.

The was a dumpster find by my mom(college town has students throwing out plenty of stuff) and I tried to plug it in, and it was not cooling. No parts availability. So it couldn't avoid the landfill. This was quite a few years ago.

That Walmart still sells Haiers is all that is needed to know that the customers still come even though they make flaky stuff. I'm not saying every Haier is a ticking time bomb, but with the lack of quality control, there will be quite a few.

Just made a phone order with Lowe's for the Whirlpool WRF535SWHZ. Hold times are long today, but at least they still use U.S. based phone reps (working from home). Probably as a result of WFH, they have some new system where you can use touch tones to input your CC #, but it wasn't working...

For Black Friday week, they have some sliding scale discounts on large appliances. Starting at spend $2k, get $300 off. Seems better than what the other retailers are currently offering (Home Depot and Best Buy have some bundle discounts going).

Received the new fridge by Lowe's truck delivery yesterday. It was available within days, but I scheduled it for about a week out. The fit and finish are slightly disappointing, but it's not a high-end model. With the Black Friday promotion, it was a pretty good deal and hopefully will last as long as the GE side-by-side that preceded it.
