Opinion on PSB Century 300 as bookshelf speakers?

Hello all

First post in the A/V forum, so take it easy on me 😉

Anyways, I was wondering how these speakers would perform as part of a stereo system (no sub) driven by a vintage H/K 330B. These will mainly be for music/light radio.

I can get these speakers relatively cheap used (~80CAD$). Other speakers I have looked at were the Paradigm Atoms but a bit pricey new.

I've read some good reviews of PSB stuff with the Alpha from PSB being compared to the Atom, but I haven't read anything about the Century 300 from PSB.

Yeah, the Atoms are much more expensive than they used to be now that they merged the Performance line with the Monitor line.

$80 for a pair of decent bookshelf speakers is a good deal, and I think that's what you have picked out. Will you get a chance to listen to them first at all?

As is usually the case with bookshelf speakers, bass output would be a concern. Depending on the kind of music you listen to, this may or may not really matter much. You can always add a subwoofer into the system later if you want to put more money into the system.
