Opinion on moissanite jewelry?

So is this stuff worth buying? Better than diamonds? Was thinking about trying something different than diamonds this xmas, like a moissanite pendant...

I was browsing some moissanite stuff and personally, i would be more than happy to recieve a peice of jewelry made from it! it looks beautiful and its something different.
sorry i cant help much on the technical side, but personally it looks really beautiful!

Thanks for the input Lola, especially from a woman this is helpful. Even on sale, a moi pendant was going for $849! Stuff is probably 75% of the price of diamonds, so it's not cheap. Others have told me that it's actually more brilliant than diamonds as well...

AFAIK, most jewlers cannot tell the difference unless they have a special tester widget. I guess it boils down to how your SO may feel about not getting an actual diamond. Women can be...er...opinionated on this particular matter. 😉

I bought a Moisanitte pendant for my wife a few years ago.

It looks very diamond like

She didn't mind it being moisanitte. I think I paid $400 for it (1 ct).

One thing you should be aware of is if its any bigger than 1 ct, it will look yellowish. My ex-boss gave his wife a 2.5ct ring and it looks yellow.

We own stock in the only moisanite company (CTHR) so it was in our own self interest to buy it. Its more than doubled in the last few months.
