My friend and I have been having an arguement about who's computer is better in the price/performance ratio.

I would say computer one if you are using your computer for gaming, there's a lot of stuff that computer 2 has that is not needed to for gaming use. Also, computer 2 does not have a DVD ROM, which is a big disadvantage since more dvd games are coming out.

In terms of performance, the two systems should be nearly identical:

System 1:
S939 3000+
2x512MB DDR400
DFI NF4-based MB
6600GT PCIe

System 2:
S939 3000+
2x512MB DDR400
ASUS K8T890-based MB
6600GT PCIe

The only difference is the motherboard. And I haven't seen anything saying K8T890 is dramatically slower than any of the other A64 chipsets. #1 may overclock better, I guess...

Randomly about a year or two from now the generic will quit working and the antec will hold strong. Just not worth the headache of replacing later. Also the antec would probably be better for ocing if you decide too.
