I guess Menino hasn't gotten over that whole "Mayor dead in car crash April Fools" thing yet.

that seems like a horrible prank....

It is horrible. If someone on the radio played a prank like that on me, I personally would not care about myself. However, I would care about my loved ones' reactions if they hear the news. Some people have actually been taken to the hospital for adverse reactions to bad news. A likely scenario would be someone fainting and hitting his/her head on a table/chair on the way down to meeting the ground. This actually happened to my friend's dad, and he was in the hospital for a month.

I've come to the conclusion that homeless people are homeless because they choose to be.

Maybe they don't want any responsibility. I know a lot of them are paranoid and mentally ill, they think that "the man" is constantly after them, and thus they don't want their name, finger print or any information on their identity in any database. But that doesn't mean they don't choose the lifestyle.

A lot of them even think they have a good life. They get up, beg for enough money to get drunk or get some drugs and enough to eat for the day - have no responsibilities, no info in any database. They're happy.

so i take it you have dealt with a lot of homeless people to arrive at this conclusion?

I work downtown so yea, I see them daily. They always have a huge smile on their face, more then I can say for a lot of people who have to live the daily grind.

All I'm saying is that everyone see's them as the victim, and "oh poor homeless people" but maybe they really do enjoy their lives. Its not like I'm telling everyone here to agree with me or even expect anyone to share my opinion. I just wanted to throw it out there.

And then they were dropped off back on the streets they were rousted from in the name of fun.

Oh yeah, that's much better than helping them.

theoretically they bought themselves new coats/clothing?

So you take a homeless guy off the street, give him a gift card and booze then throw him right back on the street and that's funny? I guess the free Gap sweatshirt makes it all better.

Considering that the Gap wouldn't even let them in the doors, I don't think it made it any better. But to not do anyting isn't any better either. At least the listening community got a reminder that there are homeless people still out there. And these homeless now have some money to buy warm clothes, and some food. If they use it for booze then that is their right.

Piss on these crackheads. They need to stop being victims and get a damn job.

I agree....they are always whining about howard, how they're the "victims".

These guys are just posers...there's only one true "shock jock"...they are just pretenders....

(tongue firmly planted in cheek)...

yes you are right Howard did start it. He is the pioneer of shock radio. The fact that it has a name means something. It could almost be considered a genre. So does that mean that mean that since Charlie Chaplin defined the comedy Genre in movies, everyone else is a Pretender?

Get over it. Howard called Bubba the Love Sponge a rip-off too. Now look where he is. He is working with Howard.

And their listernership reflected that. When they jumped to XM there was no decernable bump in subscritions what so ever.

Howie invented the homeless stunts right after he got done showing Marconi how to invent the radio.

I agree with you to a point...any kind of morning talk radio is deemed a rip-off by howard, and your analogy about charlie chaplin is a good one... but what specifically honks me off about these two is the total lack of respect for his acheivements, and how they use him to get ratings...(albeit small ratings)..If you tune into o and a for more than 30 minutes they WILL be talking about howard...

Who knows what would have happened if they had had 18 months of free advertising on CBS radio prior to their jump?

Opie and Anthony are radio GODS! I'm a fanboy for them and listen to every show!

I'm proud to be part of The Virus

They didn't buy them booze. The homeless were given a gift card and taken to a mall, not a liquor store. Other people donated money to help them purchase items.

Some items were useful (coat, boots, etc.); some weren't (sunglasses, stereo).

I laughed. Look, they brought fvcking homeless people to an upscale mall, you know, where rich people go to pretend homeless people don't exist. If you don't understand that concept then you are dumber than shock radio. People with money move away from problems, which is their right, but ignoring the problem is just as evil as O&A making fun of the problem. Think about it for a sec. And who won out? The homeless people did, they got some free sh!t at the cost of their pride, which they probably do not have considering they beg other people for money on a regular basis.

They'd probably have brought along another additional thousand listeners. I wonder when Sirius finally buys out XM what they'll do? If like Bubba they suck up to Howard he might cut them some slack and put them on his optional third channel..that's if he actually acknowledges them. Of course if they couldn't knock Howard they'd run out of material.

Or even if XM were to buy out Sirius. Who do you think they'd keep?

OMG they are still doing this? I remember back in their 102.7 days they took them to Short Hills mall.. probably the most snootiest mall in all of america.
