I eat lunchmeat on the cheapest bread that I can get for lunch every day. (Along with an orange or apple, some chips and a cookie or two.) I always drink water.
In the spring of 2003, I bought a 1993 model year truck with 140,000 miles for $3650. I sold it this past summer with 215,000 miles for $2000, and bought a 1994 truck of the same model for $2850 with 130,000 miles. I plan to drive this one 100,000 miles.
I also do all of my own home repair. The only thing I've paid for in three and a half years of living in this house is to have someone replace a garage door spring. My chimney is beginning to fall apart, but I keep patching it with a back of Quikrete. $2 repair vs. $3000 to have it rebuilt.
We keep the heat in the house low enough that we are freezing every night when we go to bed.
