I agree to the person that was eluding to these lines: Codemasters would not have spent the money or time putting this together in order to try and excite so many people if the game wasn't going to be big. I mean they know that they will eventually release in-game footage, but until they have completed enough of the game to actually show us an in-game screenshot, this at least can tide a few of us over while we wait.

I agree more or less. I guess with the catering to a bigger market they're going to want to deliver some way or another, I just don't like the concept of dumbing games down.

However, from interviews I have read, the team does seem pretty dedicated to making it a realistic combat sim, I just hope it actually is fun, and yet I don't feel like Rambo in the process.

Hey guys, I just wanted to bring to your attention some comments made by Codemasters in regards to OFP2.

Amid all the excitement, there?s an element of fear for Flashpoint fans too. Co-development for consoles can all too often indicate a more accessible (i.e. grossly inaccurate) game. For the sort of Flashpoint fan who knows their 9mms from their .45s, this would be The End. Clive says there?s nothing to worry about on that front: ?In fact I ran a fan site called urban66 that covered Soviet weapons and tactics in great detail... We ARE those guys who love the names of calibers and extensive details like it... I think this will show, in the final game, a sense of passion and dedication to make the Flashpoint we all wanted to play.?

The growing power of the PC is enabling the team to push in other directions too. ?For me especially, it?s the opportunity to take the AI to a new level,? says Senior Designer Clive Lindop. ?It uses real-world military tactics; as you fight it adapts and reacts to your actions and strategy. In the case of infantry, for example, using squad tactics sourced from the military - such as flanking, assault and ambush maneuvers - to overwhelm and defeat you. Thankfully that same AI is also at your disposal.? And you?re not entirely reliant on AI, either. Co-op remains one of Flashpoint?s key features: it?s possible to play the entire game with friends.

This article was written in September 2007, but considering how little we know about it, and how good Codemasters' games tend to be, regardless of console ports or not, I think we can at least be interested to one degree or another.
