Link? Only thing I can find about Operation Deport are things about Operation beautiful ray of sunshine that happened in the 1950s.

Also, the US isn't going to go to sh!t because of immigration. If anything it helps our financial situation because they add funds for SS but don't get the benefits.

The majority of illegals don't pay taxes, so no SS money is lost. Cash and carry and the employer takes the rest.

I haven't heard anything about this, but I'd support the concept...I'm sure we have lots of unused boxcars sitting around the country...;)

I agree that we need a guest worker program (primarily for agriculture) that provides cheap un-skilled labor on a more-or-less seasonable basis, as long as it's set up so that the "guests" have to go back to whatever their country of origin is, but it will have to be done better than the old "bracero" program was...lots of hard-working people lost their money in that one.

WE don't need ILLEGAL immigrarnts, we need LEGAL immigrants.

For those who think we need to make it easier to come here...I disagree...This is the USA, it should be difficult to get here...but easy to stay if the immigrant wants to and there's enough work to justify it.
Farmers and other places that depend on illegals might have to start paying a better wage to attract Americans, most of whom are willing to work, but have some sense of entitlement and think they're actually deserving of a decent wage for their labors...

Why can't they just come up with a name like Operation "Law Enforcement".

THe U.S. Government could probably use mexican school buses much cheaper now that are roads are wide open for mexican trucks.

They did something similar back in 54. It was called Operation beautiful ray of sunshine. It wasen't all that good. Most of them fled back to Mexico and then came back as soon as it was over. They were suppsed to do 1.2 million but only did 80,000.

Their style was going to anybody who was mexican looking and doing ID checks. There were a lot of harassment lawsuits and discrimination cases afterwards.

That'd only be solving half of the problem. You still have the probably just as rampant problem of day laborers who hang out on street corners in droves looking for work on a daily basis from "Chuck in a truck" who comes around and picks them up depending on whatever kind of labor he needs that day. These ones are the worst problem cuz you KNOW they aren't gonna be reporting ANY income and are getting paid under the table. At least the ones working for actual companies like Wal-Mart or whatever. . .[insert big company name here]. . .are at least more likely to be getting paid on the books and having taxes withheld. And then you've got the probably hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizens who hire illegals as house slaves . . .err nannies and live-in housekeepers.

Take their prints, take a photo, get it set up for an instant background check with Mexico. Issue the ones who pass a SS No., an ID, and let them look for work at American Worker Wages. What could be the problem? OH! No more "ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT" slave wages. OH! YA! That would be a big hit in the pocket book of the employers.:brokenheart:

Even if true, until we get a wall (border security) they'll just come right back in.

Do you really believe a wall is going to do any good? IF they build a 20 foot wall, some enterprising people are just going to set up shop selling 25 foot ladders...

While I'm all in favor of sending them back and keeping them from returning illegally, IMO, the wall is just another boondoggle designed to spend lots of taxpayer money while giving the illusion of doing something about the problem...

screw 20 foot walls.. we should build The Great Wall of America and make it 75 feet tall all along the border - also angle it so that it juts out at the top toward Mexico. We are quite capable of doing so for much less $ than we're losing every day on social and medical services for the uninsured illegals.

I can't wait to see them climb that one while pregnant or carrying a hundred pounds of drugs!

Place signs every 20 feet along the wall that say in Spanish: "If you want to come in, you're more than welcome to wait in line and come in legally!"

Also, double the size of the USBP and have them man the walls armed to the teeth.

Let's do this right damnit, or not at all....

Of course a wall will help. Would it be perfect? No, of course there will be attempts to go over or under. So what? I bet you lock the doors of house when you leave. Why? You do know that thieves can still break in. So why bother?

I hope the *secret* that walls or fences aren't perfect doesn't get out. What would happen to all fence companies in business? Geez, why bother to put a fence around your equipment and/or products? Don't you know it isn't perfect?

Walls are a psycological (sp?) deterent. Just monitor for the determined few who try to bypass it.

Edit: A wall shouldn't be relied upon by itself. We need legal and other reforms too.

Wait!

Are those trucks going back to Mexico empty? I may have a solution.

I hear the Soviets had pretty good luck with that concept in Berlin, maybe we could ask them for some pointers
