Moonbeam, interestingly enough, I agree with you. I don't think this "armed might" move originates from the military. It's a "let's show the rest of Iraq what can happen if they decide to get frisky" move. The military can crush opposed armed forces. It's a very poor tool for political conversion -- and I've known very, very many military people who think the same.
