Operating Video in 75hz instead of 60hz???

Is it fine?

My video on this new SFF system is kinda weird. When is 800x600 res its fine. but if I switch to 1024x768 then its gotta be in 75hz. Otherwise I see a "wave-like" movement in my graphics.

Never seen this before and was just wondering if Operating in 75hz is okay.

What's your monitor rated at? I usually run mine at 85hz.

i run any monitor i can at at LEAST 75Hz

not sure what is rated at. I don't have the manual ( probably printer on back of LCD though)

Its a Dell 17" E171Fp LCD. I have the "Hide modes this monitor cannot display" box checked.

So if I switch to 75hz then I should be fine right? No chance of damage?

I can't stand anything below 85hz.

Sounds like some kind of interference. The severity would depend on how synchronous it is with your refresh rate, probably why it is better at 75hz rather than 60 hz.

Yea I just hate to damage and expensive LCD. But I just switched it to 75hz which was the highest available.

only 60 70 and 75 were my options.

Now no wave-like movement though!

Are you using fluorescent lighting?

Fluorescent lights flickers at line frequency and it might be interecting with your screen to cause the said effect.

If you're posting on said monitor running at 75hz, then it is OK... lol

What kind of monitor do you have?

I have a sh!tty old 15", and I run 1024x768 @ 85hz.

Probably worth pointing out that LCDs don't refresh like CRTs do. The refresh rate of an LCD is far less important.

umm... you only need to worry about refresh rate when you're using CRT

If it's an LCD, shouldn't you be running it at it's native resolution?

According to that link you have, it says the native resolution is 1280x1024. Try that instead of those other resolutions.

I just pumped up the refresh rate on my system to 85 from 60, I had forgotten to do that on this system. Noticable difference!
